Guess what? Had a BLAST in New Orleans. Did we even have a choice? I think not. Hand Grenades (THE drink at Tropical Isle).. thank the Lord they don't have em in Fort Smith. JR was in total "Rotney" mode beggin the band for the mic by midnight. we got him out of the club before he puked. We packed 20 people in a cab that night... felt like a clown car. I spent my ENTIRE paycheck... ugh.. I meant to leave part of it home.. didn't quite work out that way. OH! I almost forgot: JR got ALOT of beads. Got em all at a strip club. .. an all male strip club. yikes. So this Saturday is Torchy's Two Buck Saloon in Tulsa yet again with our boys LOCK-N-LOAD!!! Last time we played there I had a cast on my hand. Come see us fall down on $2 tequila shots. ..oh and i think we're playing, too... come watch that as well. barry |

Well well! Thanks for coming to the Mi Wuk to party with us! We sincerely appreciate you people for making every local weekend a total blast for us. We got overwhelmingly good feedback on the new song, too! This weekend we're off, but you should show up at the Mi Wuk Friday and Saturday. There will be a fantastic show.. not to be missed! Trust me on this one. Then come with us and Lock-n-Load to New Orleans (the Dixie Taverne) next weekend! It'd be awesome to take Fort Smith with us! You rock. barry

... ...where am I? What a weekend it has been. Madness in May was true madness! It's funny.. we all remember different parts of the night.. We've been able to piece it together from each band members recollections... We were sitting at the campsite the next day talking about how James didn't remember this song, or I didn't remember playing that song, or JR didn't remember which song we were playing... James said, "Dude, that is SCARY!". I said its like waking up at the wheel. Thank God we made it here. Haha. Thanks to Come get ya somE!, Byrd's Adventure Center, TheX 95.3, and the crazy people who showed up! Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day, as well. I hope you had at least one moment to reflect and remember all the brave who have fallen in service to our country. Hail. We have a suprise in store for this week's show at the Mi Wuk.. ok I'll ruin the suprise.. it's a new original song. Doesn't even have a name yet, but it might by the time we play it on Friday. We have so much new material waiting, its almost time to start talking about another full length CD. ..almost.. no, don't ask me when.. i don't know! great, now look what I started. oops. sorry. barry |

Grafitti's was alot of fun as usual. I hear there were alot of graduations and such that day.. but the crowd was still respectable considering that. And the people that were there were awesome! thanks! thanks to 27thletter for havin us, and to the other bands Noise Vandals and Blackout as well! Saturday. SHACK FEST! ..wish i could remember it. I remember a few things.. everyone put on a great show.. except one.. they got robbed. If you were there, you know what I'm talking about. Alot of people were there to see them. I don't think the powers at Rib Shack knew that. Somehow I managed to crawl through the back window of my truck.. not really sure how that's possible, but being drunk makes you try things you otherwise wouldn't, I reckon. Pretty sure I made an ass of myself.. and I promised myself I would not drink again. ..well.. till this weekend. MADNESS IN MAY!!!! BYRD'S ADVENTURE CENTER, in CASS, AR. Holy crap. Happy birthday to me. Lee's is in a few days. We're celebrating em both at Madness in May.... No, I won't remember it, either. barry

been awhile. how ya been? The Music Fort Smith season opener was fantastic. Beautiful weather, a vastly improved stage, easier parking, and Fort Smith bands! Safe to say the MFS season has started out right. Too much fun! Thanks, John and Suzanne and everyone at Music Fort Smith! Great crowd, too. Thanks, folks! This coming weekend should be pretty fun. Graffiti's in Midland Bowl on Friday night and The Rib Shack on Saturday! update on new website progress: almost done! i don't want to spoil any suprises about some of the new features, but i can give you one minor spoiler: its sill blue. haha. i'm working on changing almost everything else, though. i think you'll find the new site to be a bit more personal and have more of a connection to stomphonic. I'm sure you'll like it enough to not miss this old one. See you this weekend. barry |
NEWS: April 1, 2005 |
Well it looks like we have some time off coming up. Not exactly by our choice, but what can you do? Looks like another lineup change and temporary setback for stomphonic. Nothing we haven't been through before. Our good friend and bass player Damon Shores has decided to move on. We all remain friends, and he is leaving on good terms. Another band in town approached Damon about playing bass and he took the offer. Damon says he believes that they are more his style, and feels he'd be much happier in his new position. We can't force him to stay, as much as we'd like to, but we wish him and twenty7thletter all the best in this new road they've taken together. please tell me you didn't fall for that one.. look at the date of the update, dummies. haha. gotcha. i bet Damon really freaked out when he read that. See yall at the Mi Wuk this weekend, especially Saturday night.. we have some friends playing with us: Disjointed, Lock-N-Load, and from Wichita Falls, TX, Severed Blood Loss! This will be SBL's first time at the Wuk, so be sure and show em a good time as only the Mi Wuk crowd can. Check the newly updated dates section for what's coming up. see ya. barry

Pretty good weekend at Hog Calls a while back, I reckon. But you knew that already, right? I mean, Disjointed, Cynical Theory, Lock-N-Load, Tmesis, Still Fate.. we were in good company for sure. Sorry to see the venue go. Sorry about not updating for the weekend before, but to tell the truth, I don't remember much about it. I was pretty damn ill on Saturday... maybe I partied too hard friday at Roosters. Thanks to Annex for bringing us to Springfield and thanks to Tmesis for coming with us. Look for an update and some corrections to the dates section this week when i get back with JR.. yeah i lost that paper he wrote em on for me.. again. sorry. Ok, so last weekend, you got some time off from Stomphonic. We're back at the Mi Wuk this weekend. SEE YOU THERE!!! barry |
NEWS: March 2, 2005 |
Chalk up another awesome road trip weekend! The show in Lawton was fun as usual, with Severed Blood Loss putting on a great show. Its usually a party when we play The Railhead, and this weekend was no exception. The boys in SBL are some partyin mo-fo's.. look for us to be bringin them up to the Mi Wuk in April! some folks even got drunk enough to take their shirts off and wrestle... well I hope they were drunk... Oh and thanks for the drinks, Kay! We definitely appreciated it. Made us want to take our shirts off and wrestle... anyway.. Then it was on to the Magic Rock in Wichita Falls, TX. Wow. We had a great time, and the crowd didn't disappoint one bit. For me, it was really nice to be back home where I grew up and had some old friends that I hadn't seen in awhile come out. Danny, it was good seein ya, bro. Once again we made some new friends from the area and got to play with some people we already knew as well! Great weekend all around. Dang... i'm startin to sound like a broken record with all the "hey another good weekend" thing, but if its a good weekend, what else can I do? we seem to have one after another lately. You help make that happen, so... BIG THANKS! We're feeling really good about the new material, considering the reactions and the feedback we got in Lawton and Wichita Falls. Local fans will be able to hear the new stuff in a couple of weeks at Hog Calls, I'm sure.. or maybe even this weekend... So now we're at Roosters this friday, and at a place called Billiards on saturday in Springfield, MO with Tmesis and Annex. Hopefully Nasty Nate and our other boys from Avarice will come out to party with us. hopefully YOU will too! see ya there. barry

NEWS: February 25, 2005 |
So what's happened in the last couple of weeks? The new website is coming along nicely, but in the process the updates have suffered a bit. sorry! in that time, we've had some of the best weekends ever. whenever we think we can't have any more fun in stomphonic, we get proven wrong! let's see.. we had midland bowl on the 29th. Stomphonic, Gamis, Tmesis, Lock-N-Load, Noise Vandals, and Stillfate! That had to be the biggest crowd i've seen in that place. Truly a night of great bands, and good friends. Thank you bands, friends, stomphonic lovers, and stomphonic haters alike. after that was bobbi sox with UTTERMOST!! They just keep getting better. Doesn't seem possible, i know, but its true. We made alot of new friends at that show.. including the other acts (which were amazing): Mike Shelton, and Able! Everyone lucky enough to be there was treated to one of the most well rounded shows ever in both variety of music and performances. Then the usual Mi Wuk shows followed by our first ever 3 show night. Congratulations to our friends in Cynical Theory on the release of their CD (brilliant, in my opinion.). Thanks for having us at the release show! Then the Valentine's day ball at Hog Calls... Incredible crowd! and finishing the night with Mi Wuk.. we thought everybody in town was at Hog Calls! Guess not, because there was a fantastic crowd there, too! Fort Smith, you never let us down! Oh yeah and Roosters! Hey Billy, how many people can you fit in that place? wow. We almost forgot it was an acoustic show. This weekend we're in Lawton, OK on Friday at the RailHead with Severed Blood Loss, and in Wichita Falls, TX at the Magic Rock on Saturday with Severed Blood Loss, Jacknife (YES!!!!!), Skull Pl8, Nothing Remains, and Foehammer. That one is sure to be a blast! If you feel like makin a road trip, (or you happen to live in either one of those places) we'll see you there. If not, then we'll see you when we get back. ok so the dates are now current, to the best of my knowledge. May is probably wrong, as Madness In May will be happening and we'll need to shift some dates to play the show. Stay tuned. Oh yeah, and we'll be playing another new song this weekend! The writing has been very productive lately. Once again, I'd like to personally thank the Stomphonic Hater's Club for keeping us going! Keep it up! We'd probably be alot lazier without you out there trying to make a bad name for us. Ok i've typed way too much... startin to cramp up. see you at the shows! barry |
NEWS: January 27, 2005 |
Thank you HOG CALLS. The Hog Calls crowd knows how to support a local all original show! Lock-N-Load, Murmur, Cynical Theory, Failsafe, and Disjointed all put on top notch shows! Thanks guys, we couldn't have done it without ya! Squish & Cedar are the only sumbitches in Disjointed that can keep up with us in the drinkin department, I believe. CHEERS!!! oh yeah that reminds me... art & lee.. thanks for gettin us drunk! Dennis, you're a trooper. What's next? Midland Bowl! ALL AGES! Six Bands (Gamis, Tmesis, Lock-N-Load, Noise Vandals, Stillfate and Stomphonic)! Saturday the 29th! Yeah, see ya there. A website revamp is down the pike... keep your eyes peeled. oh and don't forget Feb 4th: Bobbisox with UTTERMOST! then Mi Wuk right after. see ya barry |

What a great crowd at Rooster's! oh yeah, it was a party. thanks, Billy and the Rooster's staff and patrons. Always a blast with you folks. And then there's Torchy's Two Bucks in Tulsa. Yeah we got trashed there, too. How could we not with $2 tequila all night and cheap beer? We brought a little built-in crowd, so thanks to Michael, Nichole, Ashley (wooooooo), and Karen for standin in front of the stage till we were done! Yall ROCK! Emil thanks for drinkin with me, man. Next up is Hog Calls with several other great bands, (check the dates section for details).. and then next weekend... AT LAST!! another all ages show!!!! it'll be at midland bowl... again, check the dates section. Speakin of dates section, it has once again been updated with many future dates.. even into June. By the way, on a personal note, we deal with trash talkers on a very regular basis... comes with the territory... but i just want to say it really stings to see it happen to friends. You know who you are. We love you. barry |

(Jan 10: note the show date changes in the dates section. 2004 dates are now in the dates archive) We skipped a week on the updates.. everybody was on vacation, and i was WAY out of town. Wow! what a great Christmas holliday and incredible new year! The Mi Wuk was PACKED TIGHT! We had an incredible time. Thanks to everyone that made it a success... Gamis, Tmesis, Lock-N-Load, TheX95.3, Ken & Elle, and the best fans in the world. extra special thanks to the chump that stole my rent money and sent me into a blind idiotic rage that ended in a barely dented metal door and a broken right hand. I'm gonna try to play for the next month with a cast on. pray for me. 55-19 -Colonel Angus |
NEWS: December 21, 2004 |
Thanks for all the support last weekend at the Mi Wuk, and thanks to our friends Tmesis for covering an hour for us Friday till James and JoJo got back into town. Last weekend was just a warm up for NEW YEAR'S EVE! There is only one place to be on New Year's, and it's the Mi Wuk. Now, listen up... here are 3 good reasons why: 1. There is NO COVER CHARGE. 2. Drink prices stay the same ALL NIGHT (they won't get jacked up just because its a packed house). 3. Tmesis, Gamis, Lock-N-Load, and Stomphonic (not playing in that order) Show up early, because the show starts an around 9:30 and I promise the doors will close when it reaches capacity. You want in, get there early. You want a place to sit? get there REALLY early. Now on to other business. Some ugly rumors have been brought to our attention, and normally, we don't address the jealousy-fueled haters on this site.. but these could be particularly damaging if they snowballed and we need to give our side. 1. Some waste of space (and we know you BY NAME and what band you're in) has been trying to trash our relationships with our friends and the radio station. One claim is, that we've told everyone we're signed and yet we're still playing locally. Ok, listen up, creep. WE HAVE NEVER CLAIMED TO BE SIGNED or even anywhere close to it. If you've heard that from anyone, its probably a fan that got overexcited that we played a showcase. We're not here to perpetuate a childish band war, so we're not posting their names here. We just want to give our side to anyone interested. Good luck in your music career, and we sincerely hope you don't have to resort to defaming anyone else to get where you want. 2. Yet another jealous hater has claimed that we have stolen someone elses music. This has gotten back to us from several people and they all have told us who is spreading it and where he works. Our side is: We take pride in our work, and we worked long and hard on that CD. We had so much material that half of it didn't even make it to the CD. Why would we put stolen material on the CD and leave off something we put our heart and souls into? If something sounds like something else, then its one of our many influences manifesting itself. Nothing more. If you ever feel gutsy enough to make that accusation to our faces instead of standing behind a counter and trashing us to your customers, then tell us the song and band we supposedly stole from. Until then, we ask that you stop the slander. And to you, I'll repeat the above sentiment: Good luck in your music career, and we sincerely hope you don't have to resort to defaming anyone else to get where you want. Well that's all the negativity I can take for one section! UGH. Let's end on a positive note: I got a Christmas card in the mail from Uttermost. I was in a good mood all day. To all our friends, families, and fans - MERRY CHRISTMAS! We love you. -barry |

All I can say is wow. How about that X95.3 Halloween party at Hog Calls? Simply amazing. We would like to thank EVERYONE involved in making it a huge success. Hog Calls, we're very glad you're back! We've never had a bad night playing at Hog Calls. To the other bands, thanks for giving us a kickass show. We have so much more fun when we get to play a little while and watch the other bands.. especially when there are such good friends on the bill. The fans that came out... wow. Like I said, simply amazing. You make us feel like rock stars.. and we love how you make us feel. Keep coming out, and we'll do our best to keep it fresh for you. And of course, there's TheX 95.3. Does Fort Smith know how lucky it is to finally have a modern rock station? Let's hope so. Here's your mission, folks: Listen to the X 95.3 every chance you get. Call in and request Stomphonic, Lock-N-Load, Uttermost, or your favorite local band (they are so cool to the local scene, its unbelievable). Then pick a sponsor you've heard that day and support them! Buy their products! Seriously. Support the sponsors of The X, and you're supporting The X. Support The X, and you support the local Fort Smith music scene. Its that simple. Thank you Wade, Ian, and the entire staff at 95.3. Now, I'm supposed to update the dates section to reflect all the November bookings, but I'm an idiot and I lost the paper that has em all. I will tell you that this Friday we're in Lawton, OK at the Railhead, and Saturday we're doing an acoustic show at Big Mike's in Midland Bowl (Fort Smith). So now you've got something to do this weekend! See you there. I'll get on the rest of November as soon as JR calls me up, tells me I'm a jackass, and gives me the dates... again. update: JR never called me, but I found the paper with the dates. Dates are updated through the end of the year. I'm still an idiot. till next update, be good. -barry |

Update time! The Halloween show at the spookhouse in Panama has been cancelled. In its place, we are playing at TheX 95.3's HALLOWEEN PARTY at Hog Calls! Our very good friends Lock-N-Load and Uttermost are playing it as well. I'm told there are more great bands on the bill, so come out and plan on being there the whole dang night! Speaking of Hog Calls, last weekends show was awesome. We want to thank everyone that came out and made it a total success. Thanks also to Uttermost, Lock-N-Load, Gamis, Tmesis, and Disjointed for playing the show and making it so much more than another Stomphonic show. We have so much more fun with friends on the bill. Come out to Two Buck tonight in Tulsa! We're playing with Lock-N-Load yet again. Seems we're making it a habit. Good. see ya -barry |

Hey folks! Sorry its taken awhile since an update.. I guess its a good thing to be so busy that we can't get around to some of these things, huh? We are currently writing some new material, so the next CD should be out in another 3 years or so (HAHA). Been playing some new places and making new friends and fans along the way. Be sure and check the calendar for local and out-of-town shows through the rest of the year. Holiday season is swiftly approaching. We have a Halloween show coming up in Panama, OK (check dates section). Don't forget about our annual SANTAPALOOZA show! In case you don't know, we put these on every year before Christmas. A donation of money (usually 5 bucks) or a new (still in package) toy will get you in to see several awesome bands, and ALL of the donations go to Toys for Tots. Each year has been more successful than the last, so come help us keep that trend going! See you at the shows! Remember, (because sometimes we forget to remind you) we have CD's, T-shirts, Posters, Stickers, and other stuff available at the shows. Merchandise sales has been better than ever, but Damon is still hungry. Please help! Stomphonic loves you (unless you're an A**hole) see ya -barry |
NEWS: August 9, 2004 |
Wow, a week has passed since the CD release party, and we're just now getting around to updating. Well, its taken me all week to try to put into words how I and the rest of the band feel about how well the CD release party went. I think maybe I can get close, but I don't want to let any more time go by before updating the website. So here goes. Those of you that were there pretty much know what an incredible success it was! Attendance was at capacity, standing room only, and well over our expectations. Saturday night was a testament to the strength of the Fort Smith local music scene. The surrounding bigger cities may have the venues, but they don't have these bands. Because of that, Stomphonic is very proud to be considered a Fort Smith area band. Bands come here from bigger cities and are always amazed at how many really good bands there are here. There are so many people that helped us make it one of the best nights ever... To Uttermost: You are amazing. It is impossible for anyone to feel down when listening to your CD or especially watching your live show. A conduit of positive energy. You keep us on our toes and make us work 100% harder when you're on the bill. I can only feel happy when I'm around any of you. Thank you, friends. To Lock-N-Load: Steve said it right. We're family. When a road trip would be bad, you being there makes it some of the best times ever. Shot for shot, Dennis. You are an incredible band, and we're proud to call you friends. To The X 95.3: Ian, we had a blast in the studio with you Wednesday. Wade, fantastic job of keeping the crowd pumped the whole night! To all at 95.3, we honestly believe that you're doing it right. You have been so good to the local Fort Smith bands, its really starting to open people's eyes to what Fort Smith has to offer. Thank you! To Suzanne Horne of Music Fort Smith: Great introduction! We love you and John very much, and it meant alot to us to have you do the introduction. The shows at the Hangman's Gardens the last few summers have done alot for the local music scene. There are alot of bands in town that have had a hard time breaking into the scene, and those shows have been a great stepping stone to introduce them to the public and to other bands. Everyone check out musicfortsmith.org and see what Music Fort Smith is all about. To Joseph (Coach) Webb and Jaymz Ruark and LP: You guys never get enough credit for what you do. Without lights and sound, we all might as well be still in the garage. To Mark and Zac Coker and family: You could have just enjoyed the show, but you worked for us at the merch table and elsewhere. You have our sincere thanks. To the "band girl" team: As things are right now, we have no free time. Between Tera's trip planning, arranging, and financial duties, and Leslie and Becca's promotional phone & leg work, and the little things that ALL the girls do (filming us when you'd rather be enjoying the show, setting up merch tables, etc) you have kept that situation from becoming a disaster. With all that, you put up with us and we know that's no small task in itself. Probably why I'm single now. haha. Seriously, We can't thank you all enough for all that you do. To everyone else who helped out: Sorry if you didn't get a mention above, we appreciate everyone who helps us, but I know I always forget someone and if that person is you, I apologize. Just know that it wouldn't have been as good without you. To anyone who saw Stomphonic for the first time on July 31: Welcome to the family. I heard from alot of people who came to the show just because they heard us on the radio, or saw a poster, or a flyer, etc.... We made alot of new friends last weekend, and we're very thankful for all of you. Well i think that's long-winded enough. Hope you're still awake. -barry |

CD Release Party!!!!! In the meantime, you've got another free show to clear your weekend for. We've put together another all original weekend at the Mi Wuk. If you've never been to one of these, you are really missing out, and should hate yourself. This weekend, our guests include Gamis (from Greenwood, AR), Tmesis (of Fort Smith), Cynical Theory (from McAlester, OK), ThirteenX (from Little Rock, AR), Disjointed (from Muskogee, OK), Bridgewater (of Fort Smith), Lock-N-Load (Sallisaw's own), and of course, Stomphonic. Plan to be there both nights, because alot of the bands are one night only. Music starts at 11pm and goes till 4:30 am. Take a nap during the day or somethin. See you there. We are playing an Acoustic show at Rooster's from 9 to midnight. This is our first ALL acoustic show, and we'll likely be doing more, if we can find the time. Don't worry, we won't let it get in the way of the full on rock shows. You have your mission. See you at the shows. -barry |

We've had a great time the last few weeks. Sorry for the lack of updates, but we've been really busy wrapping up the CD. The River Valley Rock show was an overwhelming success. Danny Vernon has informed us that the American Cancer Society met their goal for the event and then some! We have the rock fans of Fort Smith to thank for it. THANK YOU! Then came Madness in May in Cass, AR. Well, it was definitely MADNESS! The people at "Come Get Ya Some" and everyone at the event knew how to show us an awesome time. We made alot of new friends and picked up some new fans along the way. We have a few new good "band stories" about swimming in the Mulberry river, too. Too much fun. Thanks to everyone involved. The dates section has been updated to reflect all 2004 bookings through late August. There are some September shows booked, and we'll put them up soon. Come see us this weekend (June 12) at the Rib Shack. Another great show put on by our good friends GAMIS. I lost my paper that had the lineup on it, because I'm an idiot. Trust me, its a great lineup. Gamis always comes through and does a great job at arranging these things. More Stomphonic CD News: The CD Release party has moved to July 31st. The original venue we were working with didn't come through, so we've decided to have it at the Fort Smith Convention Center. It is still a FREE SHOW, and still ALL AGES WELCOME! We're putting up the money for the venue, so you can save your money for the Stomphonic CD, merch, and bring some extra cash to buy CDs and merch from our friends Uttermost and Lock-N-Load. This is a very special show for us, and we will be playing some songs live that we've been saving for this occasion. Come and help us celebrate, and hear them for the first time on Saturday, July 31st. -barry |

Stomphonic CD News: Believe it or not, we are dangerously close to completing the CD. June 25 is the tentative date for the CD release party, but the location is not confirmed. Minors fear not, we will be sure to throw it at an all ages venue. Another long run at the Mi Wuk coming up, with the increasingly popular ALL ORIGINAL weekend in the middle! Friday (in no particular order):Stomphonic, SeamCulture, Tragedy's Halo, Phanx. Saturday (again in no particular order) Stomphonic, Tmesis, Stiff, Cynical Theory, and Avarice. Another "not-to-be-missed" show! After that, be sure to come to the American Cancer Society show at Goodson's on Garrison May 21st. Some really good bands and some great friends are playing. SeamCulture, Cynical Theory, Tmesis, Uttermost... man, its been WAY too long since we've played with our good friends Uttermost. Glad the trip went well, folks. SO MUCH TALENT IN THIS AREA! Sixth Wind has also been added to the bill at the last minute. Most importantly, its for a good cause, so come out and feel good about yourself while listening to some of the best bands this area has to offer. Check the dates section for our 2004 bookings through early August. See you soon -barry |

Been awhile since our last update. I uninstalled all my software except the recording stuff to make everything run smoother for the recording process. I have since put in a bigger faster hard drive, tripled my ram, and upgraded the whole system so now I'm back in the business of updating the website! Sorry if I don't type much on this update, since I shut my left index finger in the door of the truck on the way to the gig in Tulsa. I played anyway (like an idiot), as I didn't want these guys to figure out how expendable I really am. heh. It hurts. Looks gross, too. I'm a whiny mess. Anyway, we've had alot of great shows in the last couple of months, especially the times when we played with some of our best friends in the local scene. Check the dates section for an update on all our bookings through May. SEE YOU THERE! CD news update: we're getting much closer to done. All Drums, Lead Vocals, and main guitar tracks are DONE! We'll let you know when & where for the party. Till next time, THANK YOU for letting us keep doing this. We love you for it. -barry |

Our first update of 2004! Happy New Year! Hope everyone had as good of a holiday as we all did. New Year's eve and the Mi Wuk original shows were as much fun as we hoped. Thanks to ALL the bands that played with us (Lock-N-Load, Tmesis, Avarice, Cynical Theory, and SeamCulture) for making it worth all the effort. We still have one more weekend at the Mi-Wuk before taking our couple of weeks off for recording.. so come party with us once more before the long wait for the next Stomphonic show! The more people at this next show, the more pumped we'll be when we're recording the following weeks. SEE YOU THERE! barry |

Big thanks to the guys in Avarice and JT for having us at the Abyss in Springfield, MO. Always good to have a change of scenery. Wish you all could have been there for the big SNOWBALL FIGHT!!! Avarice will be coming down to Fort Smith to play our original weekend on Jan 10th, so be sure to check that out. We won't be playing this weekend so I can go see my family in Texas for Christmas, BUT there is a great show lined up at the Mi Wuk! GAMIS, FASSAUD, ANYTHING OR EVERYTHING, ANOTHERDEADSUPERMODEL, and CYNICAL THEORY (remember me telling you about those guys, right? I'm already pissed at JR for bringing em down when I'm not able to see em.. what an ass..). Some bands are both nights, some bands are one night only, so go ahead and plan on being there Friday and Saturday night! Wish I could be there to watch it. We put together these all original multi-band shows because that's what you people have been supporting lately. IT'S ALL FOR YOU! so ENJOY! We have updated our dates section to reflect our shows booked through March. Stomphonic will be back at the Mi Wuk on NEW YEAR'S EVE (wednesday night, Dec 31st).. this time, we're having Lock-N-Load with us! I know you can't wait, but you're gonna have to try. HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! Barry |

SANTAPALOOZA!!!! First off, let's thank everyone else involved in making the 3rd Annual Santapalooza the best yet! The other bands (Anything or Everything, Soul Infection, Lock-N-Load, Enami, and Madness Made). Not only did they all rock, they worked hard promoting the show before hand. Thanks to Bradley and anyone else involved with The Gate, as well! Whithout you helping, we wouldn't have had a venue this year! Okay so here's why its the best Santapalooza yet: $414 and ALOT of TOYS (I think even some of the bands brought toys.. too cool).. all the money and toys are going to Toys for Tots! So most of all, thank you to everyone who came out and donated. This will mean alot to some children who would normally not get anything for Christmas. THANK YOU! That's why we keep doing this.. we feel like Christmas is for everybody. Its important to remember why there is a Christmas in the first place.. Why our calender reads year 2003 (soon to be 2004).. and where the spirit of giving that you people have shown comes from. Sorry, I turn into a big wuss around this time of year - my favorite holliday.. heh. Anyway, thanks to you all. Our next show is at the Abyss in Springfield, MO with a band called Avarice. Saturday, December 13. And then for you local folks, we're off till the big NEW YEAR'S EVE show at the Mi Wuk. We have a special treat in store for that one.. We brought Lock-N-Load in on it! That's right, instead of one band on New Year's Eve like usual, we have TWO. AND IT'S STILL FREE. Come out and count it down with us! Love, barry |

[minor update Dec 4 - new photos! .. also a slight reworking of the bio section] Have you noticed that things look a little different? Hope so... it took alot of work. Since this update is so close to the last news update, we'll just include it here: Who knew McAlester would rock like that? We just played with a GREAT new band called Cynical Theory down there and believe me, you will want to be hearing from these guys... we'll do our best to bring em up here to the Fort for ya. Thanks for the hospitality, fellas. That was one of the best times we've had in awhile. And to the crowd, YOU ROCK!!! Thanks so much for the noise! Coming up Saturday (Dec 6th) is the 3rd Annual SANTAPALOOZA show. This year, it will be at The Gate (on Towson ave.) ALL AGES WELCOME and you need a $5 donation or a TOY to get in, as this is a toy drive for underprivileged children. So come help make some Christmases merry, and enjoy another great show at the Gate. Here's the lineup, in no particular order: Anything or Everything, Lock-N-Load, Soul Infection, Enami, and Stomphonic. We'll see you there. barry |

Well, another all-original weekend at the Mi Wuk was a roaring success! (Gamis, Lock-N-Load, Uttermost, Soul Infection, and Stomphonic!) That's 3 in a row, so here's what we're going to do. It is going to become a more regular thing. About every 6-8 weeks, there will be another one. And since there are so many great bands in the area, we're going to change the lineup each night to fit more bands in! The next one is scheduled for January 9-10! Also, last weekend we had the pleasure of once again playing a show with our good friends UTTERMOST (www.uttermostband.com). Always a pleasure, folks. YOU ROCK! Thanks for being there. That's about all for now. See you at Santapalooza 3! (check DATES section for details) barry |

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween! We sure did. Okay, It's been a couple of weeks since the last update, and usually when that happens I have some good excuse... not this time. It was pure procrastination. Sue me. The Bell Park show with Gamis was great. Alot of really good friends and good bands played... Gamis (of course.. they put it on), Lock-N-Load, Soul Infection, Uttermost, Anything or Everything, AnotherDeadSupermodel, and more... great lineup, guys. We look forward to doing it again. Thanks, Gamis. Then there was the Halloween show at the Mi Wuk. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a party! Most of the guys got super-duper drunk all weekend long... I'm suprised it hasn't put any of us on a liver waiting list. If you missed the Bell Park show (or even if you didn't), most of the bands from that show will be at the Mi Wuk this weekend, for the 3rd Stomphonic all-original celebration! Gamis, Lock-n-Load, Uttermost, Soul Infection, Stomphonic, and possibly more! This is a FREE SHOW and is TWO NIGHTS! Friday and Saturday. Some of the bands may only be there one night, so make plans to show up for both! Believe me, you don't want to miss ANY of this. I know there doesn't seem to be very many venues around that support local music, but in spite of that, there are alot of top-notch bands in this area... and the ones that have stuck around keep getting better! Come show your support for all these great bands. They all deserve it, and it'll be well worth your time, I promise. By the way, thanks to you all for making the last 2 Stomphonic original Mi Wuk shows a success! We can only do it as many times as you support it. See you next weekend! Barry |

Well, our boy Kenny delivered on his promise and we had a great time playing with him and his band Thirty Seconds of Shame in Cedar Rapids, Iowa Saturday night. Well, worth the trip! Thanks, guys. Be sure to check out their website in our links section. GREAT BAND!! Also thanks to the club (3rd Street Live) for having us. Their link is in our links section as well. We are VERY grateful for the warm reception we got from the staff and crowd there, and we are already looking forward to our return trip (it's in the works). Kenny, don't forget to call us when you come home for Thanksgiving. Coming up, we are at The Cave, in Tulsa, OK this Friday, the 17th. And then on Saturday, the 18th, we are at Bell Park in Greenwood, AR as part of Gamis' annual local "Rock Greenwood" music fest. The lineup will include Lock-N-Load, Stomphonic, Gamis (of course), Uttermost, Kimera, Soul Infection, AnotherDeadSupermodel, and Anything or Everything. Don't ask when we play, cause I'm not going to tell you. Just show up at 3 and be ready to watch and support all the bands. That's what this and all other music fests of this type are all about, after all. I believe we will be bringing elements of our PA system to add to Lock-N-Load's system, so tell grampa to leave his hearing aid at home, and bring a helmet for yourself... this could hurt. The new recording starts the following weekend. That's all I'm sayin about that. See ya, Barry

We have a few weeks to cover since the last update. First of all, the second ever all-original weekend at the Mi Wuk was another incredible success! All the bands were great, the crowd was one of the best ever, and we all had a great time. Thanks Ken, thanks to all the bands, and thanks to all of you for showing up and proving AGAIN that people in Fort Smith want to see bands play their own material. We will be happy to put on more of these for you as long as you continue to come out and support local original music. The next weekend was a last minute booking at Dave's on Dixon in Fayetteville with Splendid Chaos. Again, we had a really good time. Especially being able to catch up with our old friends AND play with them the same night. Dave's is a great club and the staff and crowd were very good to us. We gotta do that more often. Thanks, guys. That brings us to last weekend at Dreamworld in Arlington, TX. That makes three great weekends in a row! VERY sincere thanks to our good friends Jacknife for bringing us up there. If you've never seen them, we'll be bringing them back to another original Mi Wuk weekend. Great band, and great bunch of guys. You have to come check em out... you won't regret it! Thanks to everyone at Dreamworld for showing us a good time. Coming next is Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Oct 11th with 30 Seconds of Shame. We've been guaranteed a kickass time by Kenny (30sos's bass player and our old bud) and that turd had better deliver... especially if he wants to avoid a tangle with me! heh. We're looking forward to it, and so is Smokey! After that, Tulsa, Greenwood, and lots more Fort Smith.. but we have plenty of time to talk about all that. Keep checking here and the dates section. Till next time, Barry

BUSY BUSY BUSY Sorry for the lack of updates in the last 20 days, but we've been so dang busy I can hardly think straight. For anyone that likes Stomphonic, this is good news! You want more good news, you say? Okay, how about this: We went back to Springfield, MO last weekend and won first place in the final round of the Battle of the Bands! The prize: $150 (which just about pays for the trip there. heh), a spot in AugFest (which was cancelled today due to rain), and the thrill of winning again! (which is the best part, to be sure). There were alot of really good bands there, representing many styles of modern music. Pryor 20/20 was a great prog metal band, and incredibly good people. Seeking Surreal (who placed 3rd) were a VERY good modern rock band from St. Louis. And Frail from Joplin (2nd place) were a high energy extreme metal band... their stage show will exhaust you! All those bands did a great job, and we feel we were definitely in good company that night. We made alot of new friends and hopefully we'll be bringing them here to the Ft. Smith area soon so you can see and hear them for yourself! In the meantime, we're at the Mi Wuk for the next couple of weekends, with Sept. 12-13 being another all original weekend with our friends. Based on the success of the last one, you know you don't want to miss that. Our friends in Soul Infection are having their CD release party tonight, and we're gonna drag em out to the Mi Wuk when they're done (at about 1:30 ish). Speaking of, we want to thank Soul Infection for playing the last half of last night so we could come home rested for the trip we (unfortunately) didn't get to make today. Anyway, thanks for coming through for us, fellas. We really do appreciate you guys. Check the Dates section for a just updated (and still growing) listing of where we'll be from now through November. That's it for now. See ya's later. Barry

Well I know you may be getting tired of hearing this, but there's really no other way I can think of to say WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND! First, we have some good news. Friday we played at a Battle of the Bands in Springfield, MO and came in first place in the preliminary round. We're heading back on the 23rd (right after we pack up our gear from the big Muskogee civic center show) to compete in the all important final round! Thanks to the judges that scored us high and thanks to J.T. for booking us there. EXTRA thanks to our friends and family that came to the show and supported us. Saturday, we hosted the Music Fort Smith Battle of the Bands, and I must say I think it was probably the biggest turnout I've ever seen at the gardens. Great crowd! Thanks, folks... you made it great. We were, as always, proud to host the show and play as the votes were being tallied. The winner: Another Dead Supermodel. Great job fellas, CONGRATULATIONS! In second, by a fraction of a point, was Soul Infection... if you ever get a chance to see either of these bands, don't pass it up. Its days like this that I get the urge to get all sentimental and spew over and over about how proud I am to be a part of the Fort Smith music scene. Seems like it gets bigger and stronger every day. Well that's enough of that. Next Saturday, come see us at Pebbles (on Rogers ave. near 540). That's all for now. We love you people. barry

First things first. Bob, we love you and you're in our thoughts and prayers. Big show coming up on August 23rd at the Muskogee Civic Center. (Blackliner records artist) LUXT and somewhere around 10 other bands (including Stomphonic, Failsafe, Lock-N-Load, Disjointed.. many others) We already have tickets available, so GET WITH US ABOUT IT. They are only 8 bucks, so get em while they last. Trust me, it'll be worth it. This weekend we are back home at the Mi Wuk in Fort Smith, and we have something special for the following weekend. We decided to throw a little "all original party" at the Mi Wuk on the 18th and 19th, featuring some of our good friends in the music scene. We're still writing new material for the new CD. No real news there. Took last weekend off... man, that felt weird. Other than that, it's business as usual: Smokey is running perfectly after the new transmission. We're staying booked as much as possible. See you all at the shows! Barry |

Alright, since its been a couple of weeks since the last update (sue me), we'll cover 2 weeks in the news. First, the weekend before last. Friday night at the Iron Horse in Wichita Falls was great. Awesome crowd. We hope to be back there soon. BIG thanks to our good friends in Headthorn for getting us in there. By the way, we'll be returning the favor for them here in Fort Smith, so you'll be hearing from them soon (check back here for details when its all booked.) Oh, and Happy Birthday, Mike. Saturday night was the BMX state qualifying show with Soul Infection, Stomphonic, and Lock-N-Load. (Disjointed was scheduled, but circumstances prevented them from being able to play.. go see them if you ever get the chance.) We saw ALOT of new faces in that crowd, so to all the new Stomphonic fans, THANKS! I think people are starting to get used to seeing us with our friends Soul Infection and Lock-N-Load, since the following Saturday (last weekend) they both played with us.. along with 5 other bands: Histemi, Clobberhead, Buck.Buck, Uttermost, and Anything or Everything. Thanks to all the bands and everyone in the crowd for making the Scholarship show at the Music Fort Smith Gardens a success (and it was, you'll be glad to know). Check them out at their websites and/or at their shows. On a sappy note, I just want to say (again) how proud I am to be a part of such a great network of good bands and good friends. I know that everyone in Stomphonic feels the same way. Go to our ever-growing Links page and check out the bands there. We wouldn't steer you wrong. Oh that reminds me.... To anyone interested, I've completely redone my art website. The new link is HERE and also in our links section. NEWS: Stomphonic is not playing this weekend. What are we supposed to do with a whole weekend to ourselves? We'll figure something out... Go to any of the aforementioned bands' websites and find out what they're doing this weekend. Then we're back to "business as usual". Back home at the Mi Wuk once again. Then the weekend after that is the big all original show at the Mi Wuk that we decided to put together with some good friends. IT WILL RULE. Be there or be.. somewhere else, i guess. Check our dates section for more details and any changes as they happen. The dates will be updated to reflect our August shows and possibly September soon, so stay tuned. Till next update, we'll be seein ya.. Barry.

Big thanks to everyone who played at the Music Fort Smith Gardens on Saturday. All the bands were great. Even bigger thanks to everyone who showed up and supported the local area music scene. After the show we went to the Mi Wuk for two reasons: 1. our good friends in Clobberhead were playing, and 2. we introduced "Oklahoma's worst" Failsafe to the Mi Wuk (where they and alot of other great bands will be playing with us in July). Had a great time partying with you guys, even though you couldn't hang till 5 (heh .. they drank all our juice and took off.) We gotta do it more, fellas... when we come to your town we're goin to Night Trips or somethin. This weekend is 3rd Street Live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with Thirty Seconds of Shame. Then the next weekend is The Iron Horse in Wichita Falls, TX with Headthorn on Friday.. and the BMX show at Ben Geren in Fort Smith on Saturday (with Lock-N-Load, Disjointed, and Soul Infection). Stayin busy as usual. Thanks to all who came out last weekend at the Mi Wuk and helped me and Lee celebrate our birthdays. Strangely enough, I didn't puke and fall down as I had predicted... oh well, there's always next year. The week before last was amazing. 4 shows in 3 days. The usual Mi Wuk nights were in there, but the highlights were definitely the Bell Park show in Greenwood (with GAMIS, DISJOINTED, RECHARGE, ENAMI, UTTERMOST ... all great friends and ALL great bands) and of course the River Rock Fest in Tahlequah, OK at Roxie's with The Haze, Failsafe, Murmur, and Soberality (hey Soberality, sorry we missed you guys.. we were drinkin six packs of Red Bull and on our way while you were playin.. then some jackass lost the key to our trailer.. heh). Our friends in Failsafe will be playin with us on a few more shows (check the DATES section) and you must see them. They rock. Speakin of cool original shows, we have another one this coming Saturday (the 7th) at 5th D (Music Fort Smith Gardens). Once again, ALL the bands on this show rock so show up EARLY! Gamis, Enami, Soul Infection, Failsafe, Through Eyes Unclouded, Stomphonic.... I'm not telling you the order because I want you to come when it starts and leave when its over! What a weekend! This band just can't seem to NOT stay busy! Its a very good thing to be in demand, so we're not complaining a bit. For those that didn't know, some of us played at the Mi Wuk friday night (under several different names), then Saturday at the MFS season opener, and then at Mi Wuk the same night. Exhausted? YES. Worth it? YEP. Thanks to all who attended the Music Fort Smith show Saturday. It was a great show, and ALL the bands were worth seeing. Thanks for playing, guys. Also thanks go to the bands for understanding the time problem and adjusting their song lists (we even cut a song from our set list)... it made the show go on without a hitch for the rest of the day and into the evening. Well since we're getting used to squeezing as many shows as possible into a given timeframe, we're taking it to another level this weekend. 4 shows in 3 days. Stomphonic loves this season. Mi Wuk Friday (23rd), Greenwood Music Festival Saturday, Mi Wuk Saturday night, River Rock Fest Sunday night in Tahlequah. And this season is just beginning! We are booked solid till August, (with the exception of July 4th weekend.. we kept that open for ourselves) and still booking new gigs all the time. Definitely try to make it to one or two or ALL of the shows this weekend. The more the merrier! The Greenwood and Tahlequah shows both promise to be incredible. Great bands are booked for both. Greenwood (THIS IS A FREE SHOW!): Enami, Recharged, Stomphonic, Disjointed, Uttermost, buck.buck, and Gamis. Click here to get directions from the Gamis website. Then Sunday in Tahlequah: Haze, Stomphonic, Failsafe, Murmur, Soberality. Check our DATES section for more details on these and other shows. Hope to see you all there. And don't forget the road shows we have coming up: Iowa and Texas in June, and Lawton, OK in July. We're still trying to coordinate some carpool situations through email. Check the News Archive for more info on that. Needless to say, the season has just started and it already promises to be a great one. We appreciate all our friends (fans, other bands, venues, journalists, radio stations, etc.) for helping us make it the best yet. Speaking of radio, it has also been told to us that Stomphonic is still being replayed on 104.5 the Edge in Tulsa, and on 104.9 The "X" and 92.1 the Zone in Fayetteville. If anyone from these stations is reading this, THANK YOU! Well that's about all for this update. See you at the shows. |

Riders: be prepared to give the drivers some gas money. We'll put up here where and when to meet (even for the folks just going alone or already have a full car). Stay tuned. Let's make a habit out of this and take a built in crowd with us everywhere. In other news, we want to thank 104.9 The "X" in Fayetteville for playing stomphonic last night on the Local X. Last night we played at a CD release party for our long-time good friends Lock-N-Load. 7 bands.. and in my opinion every one of them kicked ass. Congratulations LNL for finally releasing the CD, I know alot of folks were waiting for it.
The Tulsa crowd was really good to us, and I have a feeling we'll be playing in that area a bit more often. Thanks to all the other bands (Self Inflicted, Skruface, Disjointed, Lock-N-Load, Failsafe, and Iokaine), Max from Infinite, the Egde (z104.5) guys that were out, The Otherside, and of course the Tulsa music fans for making it a night to remember. Visit all those links.. all these people work hard and deserve your support.
In other Stomphonic news, there are some really cool shows in the works for you road-trip minded people. As soon as these dates are confirmed I'll try to set up some info on here for people to get together and carpool/caravan. It's sure to be a blast, so keep an eye out for another update soon.

Hello again! Hope everyone enjoys the bio section. I've gotten alot of positive feedback since the addition of it, and we appreciate it very much. Look for some possible other changes sooner or later.
We're looking forward to once again playing with our friends Gamis, Evitagen, and Mindframe Zero at the Plan B cafe. (March 8th) We always have a great time with those guys.
The dates section now reflects some new shows for March - May, and there are also some unconfirmed dates that will be posted as soon as they are confirmed (be sure to keep an eye out for those).
Speaking of dates, I just have something to say concerning a recent cancellation. First off, big apologies to any of our Little Rock fans who were hoping to see us this weekend. We were cancelled without ANY notice whatsoever. This is the second cancellation in a row from Nite Life Rocks, and the first one was cancelled with only a week's notice. At the time of that cancellation, we requested that any future cancellation be done with 30 day notice so the weekend can be rebooked. This time around, we called the club mere days before the show to find out that we were indeed cancelled. Needless to say, neither cancellation gave us any time to re-book those weekends.
Any time we cancel a show, we have a policy of giving the club owners enough time to re-fill the spot, and we would appreciate the same courtesy. Again, two cancellations would be no big deal, if given enough time to re-book the weekend. Playing live is how this band sustains itself. Believe it or not, it costs money to keep doing this.
That's all for now. Come see us! and to our Little Rock fans, fear not, we are working on getting some gigs elsewhere in your town.
NEWS: February 14, 2003
Allrighty! The bio section is now finished. Go there if you haven't yet.
We hope to see everyone out at the Mi Wuk this weekend. We just had a great practice and wrote yet another song. (its a good thing the CD aint done yet, huh?)
Anyway. Got some cool shows in the talking stages, and I'll put em up as soon as we confirm em.
peace on you,
barry
NEWS: February 8, 2003
Well the bio section is up and running, but there are a couple of members still missing from it. get those bios to me, guys. Go check that out for something new.
Our return to the Mi Wuk was alot of fun last night, and we're looking forward to tonight and next weekend. Time off is nice sometimes, but a month is just too damned long.
CD Report: Still working on it
See ya!
barry
NEWS: February 3, 2003
Yes an update. Not alot has happened, since the band has taken the month off, so really... there's no news. We've been working on some new material, and even learned a few new covers.
CD update: still working on it
I am working on a new bio section for the site, and I'll probably also add the new promo and live pics to the photos section soon.
What else can I say? Our "time off" officially ends this coming weekend at the Mi Wuk. See you all there!
later,
Barry
NEWS: December 11, 2002
Not a whole lot to report this update. The usual "we're hard at work on our new CD" stuff... THE DRUM TRACKS ARE FINISHED!!! and half of everything else is DONE. so we've hit a milestone.. just letting you know that we are making progress.
Be sure and bring a toy to the Santapalooza toy drive this Friday, Dec 13th at Plan B (on N 9th off Garrison ave.) Mindframe Zero has unfortunately cancelled due to circumstances beyond their control. There will still be 3 other acts at the show, and its sure to be a good time.
Also fixed and added some links in the links section. Uttermost is fixed. 30 seconds of Shame, Fallen, 6 Foot Landing, and B98 have been added.
That's all for now. We'll keep you updated on the CD and I'll let you know when we have a firm release date. Enjoy, Barry
Update: November 18, 2002
Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but as you can see I've been busy working on an overhaul for the website. Hope you like the new look.
So what's in Stomphonic's news? We had a great time Halloween at Old Town. Thanks to all the bands that played, and we look forward to playing with all of you again. Great bands all around - Shattered, Evitagen, Mindframe Zero, Gamis, and Blindstruck.
There was such a positive response to last year's (first annual) Santapalooza, that we have decided to put on another one. This year the venue is at Plan B (on north 9th off Garrison) and once again, we have a band lineup that we're very happy about. If you missed last year's event, it is a (now annual) benefit for Toys for Tots. Bring a toy -or- $3 to donate and you get in for all the bands. So far, the confirmed bands are Stomphonic, Mindframe Zero, Uttermost, and Buck Buck. There are most likely other band(s) to be announced. Check back here for more details. Very BIG thanks to Clear Channel Radio (B98, Big Dog 95.9, etc.) and Music Fort Smith for all your help last year AND this year. Come out to Plan B (many thanks for the venue, Juan & company), Friday, Dec 13th at 8:30 PM and help us make Christmas enjoyable for some needy kids.
We are currently making progress on our new CD, due out in the coming months. We are taking this coming weekend off to lay down some more tracks, and we look forward to bringing you the new stuff very soon.
Update: October 3, 2002
Just some minor tweaks and fixes on the website this update. Finally put Evitagen in the links section (sorry it took so long, guys), and fixed a couple that weren't working.
A couple of shows we want to make sure everyone is aware of (apart from our normal gigs): Thursday, October 17th. DOWNTOWN ALIVE! at the Riverfront Amphitheater, sponsored by Clearchannel Radio (B98, Big Dog 95.9, etc.) and The Southwest Times Record. Last year we did this show, and it was a great deal of fun for us. Make sure you come out and make alot of "NOISE". Check the radio or the paper for show time.
The
other one is Thursday, OCT 31: Halloween at OLD TOWN. We got some of our friends
together for this show, and ALL of them are badass. The bands (in no particular
order) are: Gamis, Mindframe Zero, Stomphonic, Blindstruck, and Evitagen.
The show starts around 6pm, so come early! You need to bring $3 for the door,
and a good excuse to get out of work friday.
Well,
that's about it for now... another complete website overhaul is in the works.
Update: September 1, 2002
Thanks to everyone who came to the Music Fort Smith Battle of the Bands and supported the local music scene, and supporting Music Fort Smith. Check out www.musicfortsmith.org I must say, that the level of talent in this year's competition was exceptional, and we were proud to host saturday night. The scoring was so close you wouldn't believe it. The top 6 or 7 bands were all within FRACTIONS of points of each other. A testament to the talent that's in the area music scene. There was a mixture of friends and bands that we have played with often (Mindframe Zero, Prybite, Claymore,) plus there were a few bands that I had never seen before, and I'm glad I got the opportunity. I'm putting new links on the site so you too can check out these great bands. Some of the bands I got to see for the first time include: Heavy Sattelite, Gamis, Chasing The Sphere, and Evitagen (website coming soon.. email me when its done, guys). all of which i thoroughly enjoyed watching. And of course Uttermost (can't find a website for them, so here's the kzbb page that featured em), who i have seen only once before, were amazing. As always it was good to see our friends in Lock-N-Load, and special thanks to them for hosting Friday night's show. The bands ALL had great attitudes and I think alot of us made new friends and connections, which is only good for the local scene. We are very proud to be a member and participant of this ever-growing music scene. We would love the opportunity to play with any of these bands again. Okay did i overdo it? Sorry, but I just get caught up in how great things are getting in this area.. now we just have to work on getting some more venues to showcase all this local talent!! Its a great time to be a Fort Smith area music fan.
AND THE WINNER IS.
What a show, guys! We're definitely looking forward to playing with you again soon. Get back to us and lets book some shows. If you have never seen them before, you owe it to yourself to check out a show.
These links will also be in our MISC section, so you can go back there if you forget any of these.
Update: August 23rd, 2002
A couple of things this update. First off, the DATES section is updated and current. I will of course let you all know of any changes.
The
lineup for the Music Fort Smith Battle of the Bands is now official. The times
were determined at the MFS band meeting last sunday that competing bands were
to attend. These times can vary slightly, of course, due to any number of
variables that pop up. All the bands need to report to the hangman's gardens
about 1 hour before their set to secure their timeslot. Come out and pull
for your favorite band. The lineup this year looks really REALLY good, so
be there both nights and enjoy the whole damn thing. The real winners this
year are the Fort Smith music fans, as this promises to be a killer show.
The winner will be announced saturday night, just before our set. Since we
are the 2001 winners, I think we should have JR come up in a little tiara,
sash, and boquet of roses, take em off and present em to the new winner. haha.

Update: August 15th, 2002
Wow, been awhile, huh? Sorry for the length of time between updates, but I've had some computer problems that kept me from updating the site. Check out the Dates section for new show info.. although it doesn't reflect all of our bookings, within the next couple of days i'll have it fully updated.
Too much to talk about. Had a great time in Booneville last weekend. That was the longest ANY of us had ever played without a break (3 straight hours.. damn). We're looking forward to making it back down there.
I guess by now everyone has heard the shocking news about Dave "Stage" Williams from Drowning Pool being found dead in his tour bus yesterday. Speaking as a Drowning Pool fan, i know he'll be greatly missed. Don't really know what to say without sounding cheesy. I still haven't heard their live recording of "Creeping Death" by Metallica on the Ozzfest album.. seems kinda eerie... that being his last recording and all. Well, you don't get a much bigger gig than 1st stage at OZZFEST, so he left when he was at the top.
Also
passed on this month: my guitar. The white flying V with mirror pickguard
is no more. Smashed on the Nite Life Rocks stage. I didn't mean to. Honest.
Oh well, it just meant that i had to hurry up and buy the Gothic V i've had
my eyes on. The white one will make a great wall decoration.. i got all my
boys in stomphonic to sign it the next morning. Rest in pieces.
Another update real soon. Gotta add some links, dates, change some stuff around..
maybe even another website overhaul in the works.. lots of work to do.. till
then, see ya.
Barry
Update: June 5th, 2002
Just a few things this update. Gotta brag about a couple of people honoring us. Firstly, we are featured as the band of the month on x_sweetleaf_x's Ultimate Rock List. Go check it out at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheUltimateRockList. thanks, Sweetleaf! Also this week, Stomphonic.com is featured on Little Rock Hardcore's "Site of the Week". Click the image below to go there and check it out.
Much thanks to the webmasters of both sites, as we are honored by ANY amount of recognition we get. Do us a favor, and go to these websites and send some email letting them know that you appreciate it to!
New
dates, check out the DATES section, and be sure to make it to all of em you
can.
In other news, we had a great time these last couple of weekends. Mine &
Lee's (oh and Tera's) birthdays were celebrated Saturday the 25th of May,
and we couldn't have asked for a better party! (started at the strip club
and ended with our drunkass show at the Mi Wuk!) That night Mindframe Zero
came and played a couple with us at the Mi Wuk, and rocked as usual. Thanks
guys. Oh yeah, and thanks to all who came and supported us and Mindframe Zero
at Old Town thursday night. Pretty good crowd for a weeknight... we love it
when people make themselves late to work for us. Love and respect.
Well,
that's about it for now... come back soon, cause we will have still MORE dates
up (Aug is rapidly filling up).
As always, Stomphonic loves you, and "peace" to those who want it.
barry
It seems the show Saturday at 5th & D was a success. BIG thanks to Music Fort Smith (www.musicfortsmith.org) and to all the bands that showed up-- Claymore, Blindstruck, Mindframe Zero, Prybite; love & respect to all. (Ourcaine wasn't able to make it due to circumstances beyond their control. Jay told me they'll be back real soon. hopefully in time for the next one of these type shows.. good luck guys. We also have heard news of another band starting up featuring Ricky Cash, formerly of Ourcaine) Extra thanks to the fans that came out. You're the sole reason we do this.
We had a killer time, and we definitely want to try to make this a pretty regular thing throughout the summer. As long as you people come out and support it, the bands will be there. The idea is, the more we do these shows, the more people become aware of it, and the bigger the crowd will be each time. I'd say we did pretty good considering we were competing against some big show out at the river. Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available. John Horne told us that the stage can be a venue for whatever your musical tastes are, and plans to have all kinds of bands playing there.. check out www.musicfortsmith.org and they'll have updates on other events.
...and speaking of other events...
There is another Springdale (Shiloh Square) Date announced! June 15th. I'll give you the band lineup as soon as its available to me. Anyone who was at the last one will tell you that it was a great success and ALL the bands kicked ass. We're excited to be invited back (thanks PRYBITE, you guys rock), and definitely look forward to it. This is shaping up to be a great summer for Stomphonic, and a great summer for the Eastern Arkansas / Western Oklahoma music scene. So many good bands, so many great fans, so many friends. Summer hasn't even oficially started yet, and its already awesome. Local music fans are definitely big winners this year.
And again, if you haven't been to this site in a couple of weeks, then here's a reminder to go to the audio section and listen to or download "Noise".. unavailable anywhere else.
well, that's all for
now.. so once again,
I'm off like a prom dress
Stomphonic loves you
barry
Update: May 17th, 2002
Not much of an update this time, but there a re a couple of things that need to be said. First off, We want to sincerely apologize to anyone who went to Old Town on the 16th expecting to see Stomphonic and Mindframe Zero. Somehow, another band got booked in there after we were already booked, and well, that's how it goes sometimes. We do what we can to keep organized on these things, but good record keeping and good communication has to be kept up on all ends.. so don't be angry at either band, as we both kept up our ends. We are still booked at Old Town for tonight (the 17th) with Prybite, and things still look good for the outdoor show on the 18th.
And yet another apology. The news interview that was supposed to air on the 24th was pushed up and already aired. Hope you saw it. I really wish people would get it together and let us know some things so we don't look like idiots for posting bad info on our website... oh well, what can you do?
If you haven't yet,
go check out our mp3.com exclusive song (Noise) in our audio section. Its
not available on the demo we've been selling, and in its current form, never
will be. (It'll be re-recorded eventually for our next CD) You'll only get
it, as it is now, here on the internet.
Thanks to everyone who showed up at the Springdale show with Lock N Load,
Prybite, Stomphonic, Ourcaine, Dyer Maker and Prey for the Wicked. We had
a helluva time, and hope to get together with all those guys again soon.
Well that's it.
See ya
Barry
Our audio section (www.mp3.com/stomphonic) now has an exclusive song not available on our demo. It's called "Noise". Go check it out.
Hey! First things first.
Alot of thanks going out real quick. Thanks to Dust For Life, Billy Pope,
and the whole Nite Life Rocks staff for having us on the 27th. We had a kick
ass time. Special thanks to all the people that made the trip to see us. It
was awesome that they roped off our own section for our people and you guys
filled it up beyond capacity. WE LOVE YOU ALL. We will be back in Little Rock
in early June, check the dates section.
In other show news, we have some new dates you may not know about. Be sure
to check out the dates section before you leave, because you'll hate yourself
for missing some of these shows. May 4th (today! at 4pm!) there's alot of
bad ass bands playing at Shiloh Square in Springdale, and we happen to be
one of em... well worth the drive, because some of our favorite bands that
we've played with before, like Lock-n-Load, Ourcaine, Prybite.. are all there!
We also have some new Old Town shows, one with Mindframe Zero (those guys
definitely ROCK), and one with Prybite (!!) and of course another multi-band
show in Ft Smith, outdoors (YES!) at 5th & D across from the salvation
army and sponsored by our good friends at Music Fort Smith (check out www.musicfortsmith.org
sometime).
One last thing... JR (our rock star singer) did an interview for NBC 24/51 answering questions about the local music scene; the talent, the bars, etc. It will air on Friday, May 24th on the evening news. Do tune in, as i'm sure it will be interesting. Could it be possible that Fort Smith might ACTUALLY get away from the idea that it's a BLUES ONLY town? What jerk actually started that idea?
Well that's about it for now...
Peace on you!
barry
Another update, and NOT just because James said to. There is actually some news. Number one, and most importantly... For those of you in the know or who have been following.. James & JoJo's bro Michael had surgery and is doing better. Keep them all in your thoughts and prayers, as you have been. Personal note: we love you guys, and know you can make it through anything.
On to business. April is looking good. Back at Old Town, we're gonna have badass local bands Mindframe and Ourcaine with us (we always enjoy playing with those guys). Also, in Little Rock, on Apr 27, we are opening for Dust for Life, at the new and improved Nite Life Rocks. Check the Dates section for more Little Rock dates.
See you f**kers there. love yall,
barry
Just a short update today.
JR's a dad, as of Feb
20th!
For Jacob's picture and info, click HERE.
JR will update his website with the news as soon as he gets the time... could
be forever! Congratulations, bro.
As for Stomphonic, we're coming back March 16th. Check the dates section
Hello, friends of stomphonic! What can I tell you folks? First, the usual thanks to everyone who came and partied with us at the Mi Wuk (and thanks to Mike for killin us with triple shots on Friday night). We were feelin it for days afterwards.. some jackass even vomited on stage.. and then hit Lee with his puke towel.. ugh. .. okay it was me.
We also can't forget the Old Town show with Mindframe and Ourcaine! (2 killer bands that you should check out if you haven't already) That show marks the last stomphonic show before Jr's new house ape is born... and so starts our hiatus. We'll be writing new material for the next original show we play (JR said on stage that the next time you see us, we'll have at least 4 new originals, so we have plenty of writing to do.)
Another song is up on our audio section. Go listen.
Even though we'll be practicing and writing all this time, we're still going to miss you people. Don't forget about us, and we'll be back in a month or so. In the meantime, we're gonna go check out "Rockstar" CR, a really good friend of ours, and the new singer for Desperate Measures. Their first gig is tonight (Friday, Feb 8th, and Saturday Feb 9th) at the Mi Wuk. Come out and party with us!
Peace on you,
Barry.
Update: Jan 27th, 2002
At last, the audio section is working! One song is up, and more are on the way.
Well, back at the Mi Wuk after taking a weekend off. Friday night was one of the best Fridays we've ever had. Thanks to everyone that came, stayed, and made it a party. We'll be back at the Mi Wuk this weekend, and then once more at Old Town before our month off (ugh! we hate not playing, but this is pretty necessary.) We'll be practicing heavily in February, writing new material, learning some more covers, and keeping ourselves sane during offtime. So come out and party with us.
Update: Jan 11th, 2002
With this being a new year and all, I thought it was time for a website overhaul. Beyond the obvious visual changes, there are also some functionality changes. First, in an attempt to streamline this thing, some sections were taken down, because frankly, they were useless (merchandise, contact info, bios, etc.). Any useable content that would fall under those sections, will be put in the "misc" section in the future. I will most likely redo the Bio section and place it in the Misc section. Second, the photos will be minimized a bit. I feel that more work should go into selecting the best photos, as opposed to just posting everything. Lastly, there will finally be an audio section. Our "Audio" button will lead to a link to our section at www.mp3.com, as soon as its approved. Most likely it will be 2 songs from the demo CD, and one song not available anywhere else.. maybe more.
In other news, for those of you we've been talking to about playing in Rogers on February 2nd (with Blindstruck)... sorry, it was a miscommunication. We apologize to any of our friends or fans who were looking as forward to that show as we were..
As for the rest of February, after the 7th (at Old Town), we'll be taking the rest of the month off. JR's rug-rat is due in Feb, and we'll be back to full speed in March. Be sure to tell JR and Rebecca congratulations and buy 'em somethin cool.
later! barry
Well first off, we want to thank everyone that came to Santapalooza at the Pavilion! By all accounts, it was a great success. We managed to raise alot of money and toys that we gave to Toys for Tots, and you all helped make Christmas for some needy kids. Of course we also want to thank the sponsors without whom this wouldn't have been possible: Northwest Cellular, Ty Taylor's Custom & Collision, Clear Channel Radio (B98, Big Dog 95.9, etc.), and Music Fort Smith. And without a doubt, we HAVE to thank five of our favorite bands for playing the show with us: Blindstruck, Prybite, Phanx, Ourcaine, and Lock-N-Load (LNL also brought P.A. & lights to combine with ours. Big thanks) All the bands were kickass, and get much thanks for donating their time for the cause.
In other news, you probably noticed the lineup change in the band. Tommy has left the band, and James (formerly our D.J.) stepped into the drum spot. Of course we wish Tommy well, and personally, I hope he gets back into music sooner or later.. I'd hate to see talent like his go to waste. James is doing a great job, and we're glad he was a drummer before he was a DJ.. we don't have to worry about finding a drummer that we have no idea about chemistry, etc... he's already been in the band. Thanks, James, and good luck Tommy. For a little more on the subject, check out JR's page.
We've added a new date for New Years weekend. It seems that Joe at RumRunners (Tulsa, OK) has decided to move up his New Years celebration a night early, and we'll be playing that night alongside local Tulsa heavies Sonic Distortion. So we get to play 2 New Years Eve parties! For those keeping score, that puts us playing 4 nights in a row: The weekend at Mi Wuk, Sunday night at RumRunners, and Monday Night back at Mi Wuk! (4 in a row... just like old times, eh James & Jojo?)
And lastly, we want to congratulate our boy Damon Shores (now also known as Spookyfruit, haha) for winning the Jager Rodeo. 30 seconds... good lord. The last time I saw somebody that drunk.. it was me... or maybe JR...
Joe, You rock.
Till next update,
Love yall
Barry
Update:
11-21-01
Yes, an update! Sorry for the dead time, folks. We've been really busy lately with writing new material, getting the big Santapalooza toy drive all set up (details below), playing every weekend, etc., etc... plus, I've been working on a new website for Music Fort Smith (more on that coming soon), not to mention my day job as a graphic artist.. I've been pretty good about updating up till now.. I've been adding dates steadily, and we'll see how it goes from here... If it stays like this, I might have to let something go.
Okay, firstly, BIG thanks to everyone at Nite Life (Little Rock - last weekend) and RumRunners (Tulsa - Weekend before). We always look forward to shows in both places, and are never let down by the staff or the people that come out and get nuts with us. If you're in either of those towns, we are still booking both places, so check the dates section regularly for info on when we'll be back. This weekend (and the weekend after) we're back home at the Mi Wuk in Fort Smith.
OK so the question now is.. what's this "Santapalooza" thing mentioned earlier? well, It's on Thursday, December 13th from 5PM to 10PM, at the Fort Smith Pavilion (the glass building down by the river... close to the park & amphitheater). $3 or a Toy (to be given to Toys for Tots) will get you in to see all SIX bands! The lineup is as follows: BLINDSTRUCK, PRYBITE, PHANX, OURCAINE, LOCK-N-LOAD, and STOMPHONIC. If you've seen ANY of these bands, you'll know that they all rock. Definitely no weak points in the lineup. It's being sponsored by Ty Taylor's Custom & Collision, Northwest Cellular, and Clear Channel Radio Stations. We're hoping for a huge turnout, so that we can attract sponsors for future events like this. Support Toys for Tots and your local music scene in one stroke.
We're also starting to book original gigs in regular rotation at Old Town on some Thursday nights (right now its one a month, and we may step it up from there). The plan is, it'll be Stomphonic, Ourcaine, and another band every time. Dec 6, Jan 10, Feb 7 are the dates so far. Come out and start the weekend early!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Somewhere in the midst of all this, JR and I will be doing some side shows at Old Town on Tuesdays, probably starting in January. No solid dates yet, but stay tuned.
Another Photo update is coming soon (I promise Brian & Gretchen.. did I spell those right?). Got alot of photos from Nite Life and Rumrunners.
Till then, See ya at the Mi Wuk!!
Barry
Update:
10-4-2001
What a weekend! Our show at Nite Life in Little Rock, AR was a total blast. A few of us had played there before in different bands and we were looking forward to finally getting back. A bunch of good friends came out as well, Alan Hash (formerly of MISS TREATER and Clowndog Riot... thanks for the amp loan.. you are a badass), James, Brian, and Steve from Desperate Measures (more drinks than we... especially Damon... could handle), and of course.. BOB HARRIS AND JOHN HUFFMAN!! ...words can't express how cool it was to see those two there. There were even some people there that remembered mudkicker, Stone Lily, and Junk Box! Great crowd, great staff (thank you Billy, Marvins, and the excellent wait staff & security), an all around kickass weekend.
C.R., we still owe you $20 for gas. Don't even try to say no, buddy.
Well, if you haven't yet, scroll down to the last update (9-25-01) and read my ramblings about the Music Fort Smith "WAR" Battle of the Bands. We're still very proud of that, and we're looking for a way to top it (at least in our own minds).
We have some pics up from the aforementioned Battle of the Bands, as well as from the Mi Wuk show of the same weekend, so be sure to check the pics AND misc sections for the updates. In the misc section there will be some friends of ours, Ourcaine, and Steve (Sex Machine) and Dennis (the Pennis) from Lock-N-Load partyin with us at the Wuk.
Speaking of Mi Wuk, we're back there for the next two weekends! We want to see everyone there. Also, check the dates section for our re-booking at Nite Life! (thanks, Billy)
As always, thanks to everyone who supports us and all the other local musicians. Please continue to do so, and we will ALWAYS appreciate it!
First things first - VERY big thank you to everyone who came out and supported STOMPHONIC at the Music Fort Smith "War" Battle of the Bands. The winner was decided by crowd response and you didn't let us down. THANK YOU!! As you may or may not know, we donated the prize money back to Music Fort Smith, as we hope they succeed in everything they are trying to accomplish. This weekend has hopefully shown Fort Smith that there is more than one kind of music here.
It's time to acknowledge music as an art form, no matter what style it may be. Rock, Country, Rap, Jazz, Blues, Hardcore, R&B, Punk, Metal.. for every style of music there is, there is someone in Fort Smith and everywhere else that wants to hear it, and/or wants to play it. It all should have a home here. I know it sounds cliche'd, but SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC SCENE. Every CD you have in your collection comes from a band or musician who was "local" somewhere once. Definitely support local ORIGINAL music, because without it, there will be no new music. This is where it all starts, folks.
It is possible that one day, Fort Smith could be a music town, where you could hear local original music on a regular basis, and hopefully someday you'll have a choice! Its a long road ahead, but with your help, and the help of organizations like Music Fort Smith, and bands like Stomphonic, Lock-N-Load, Ourcaine, and everyone else (and i mean everyone) who played at the Battle of the Bands, the right steps are being taken.
Sorry if that was a bit of a long rant, but I'm just very happy with the way things are starting to go. Okay, on to other things. We're going through the 200+ pictures we have from this weekend and deciding which ones to put up on the site.
We also want to welcome aboard our newest member, Lee Yandell, who played his first Stomphonic show at the Battle of the Bands. He fits right in, musically, and personally. We're damn happy to have him.
Once again, I gotta say how much we love and appreciate everyone who supports us. Check back soon for the pics from the Mi Wuk and from the Battle of the Bands. Please sign the guestbook above, give us some input.
till next update.. see ya
